Lionel Messi’s Preferred move Revealed

Argentine captain, Lionel Messi, wants a move to Manchester City this summer transfer window after leaving Barcelona.

DAILY POST reports on Thursday that Barcelona officially announced that their captain, Messi, will be leaving Camp Nou as a free agent this summer.

Messi’s contract with the Catalan club expired on July 1 and he was believed to have agreed on fresh terms on half of his wages.

However, the new contract couldn’t be finalised “due to financial and structural problems [rules relating to the Spanish topflight league],” an official club statement revealed.

Messi’s availability has now thrown the summer transfer market open, with Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, Juventus, Chelsea, David Beckham’s MLS franchise, Inter Miami, among others, all interested in signing the 34-year-old.

But according to Marca, Messi has the preference to join Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City despite the interest from PSG and several other top European clubs.

Messi played under Guardiola during the Spaniard’s time at Barcelona.

He won 10 LaLiga titles, four Champions Leagues, seven Copa del Rey diadems, among several other honours during his 21-year stay at Barcelona.

Meanwhile, Man City have been interested in Messi in the past, although having just spent £100million to sign Jack Grealish from Aston Villa on Thursday.
