Deadline Day: Arsenal’s Bellerin joins Betis, Aurier leaves Tottenham

Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin joined La Liga side Real Betis on a season-long loan on Tuesday.

Bellerin was surplus to requirements at the Emirates Stadium after falling out of favour with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.

The Spanish right-back has made 239 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal since 2013.

He is a three-time FA Cup winner with the Gunners but had not featured in a single game so far this term.

Bellerin, 26, lost his place as Calum Chambers and Cedric Soares started instead of him, while new signing Nuno Tavares can play at both full-back positions.

“Everyone at Arsenal wishes Hector the best of luck with Real Betis this season,” the club said in a statement on their website.

Serge Aurier has agreed to terminate his Tottenham contract by mutual consent.

He leaves on a free agent.

He had interest from the likes of Watford, Real Betis, Spartak Moscow, and Genoa but he feels he should be playing at a higher level.

This brings to an end his four-year spell at the club.

Crystal Palace have signed Odsonne Edouard from Celtic.

The striker joins the Eagles on a four-year deal, with the option of a fifth.

Jordan Roberts has returned to Motherwell on loan from Hearts.

The forward, who had a successful temporary spell last campaign, is back at Fir Park until the January transfer window.

Sunderland have signed goalkeeper Ron-Thorben Hoffmann on a season-long loan.
