Amanda Staveley consortium remains hopeful of buying Newcastle

Amanda Staveley's consortium remains hopeful of buying Newcastle United.

The Evening Chronicle says Staveley's husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi has called upon the fan-led review into football to scrutinise the ongoing Newcastle United takeover saga.

Ghodoussi and Staveley have twice tried to buy the Magpies through their firm PCP Capital Partners, and came close to doing so last year alongside Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund and the billionaire Reuben brothers.

Frustrated Toon owner Mike Ashley remains determined to revive the deal, and is currently pursuing action on two legal fronts against the Premier League.

Tracey Crouch is chairing the fan-led review into football governance and Ghodoussi posted to social media today: "Delay tactics, zero transparency. Fans deserve better.
