Euro 2020: Pogba breaks silence on France’s elimination

France midfielder, Paul Pogba, has finally reacted to his country’s elimination from Euro 2020.

France were knocked out of the European Championships by Switzerland on Monday night.

Didier Deschamps’s men were defeated 5-4 on penalties after Kylian Mbappe saw his spot-kick saved by goalkeeper Yann Sommer following a 3-3 draw after 120 minutes in Bucharest, Romania.

Reacting, Pogba, who scored a spectacular long-range goal against the Swiss, said in a post via his Instagram account, “Sometimes football can be cruel… cruel and also beautiful. Yesterday, the game brought us sadness but happiness to our opponents.

“That is the beauty of football. Of course, we all wished that we could have had a positive result.

“Thank you so much to all of our fans across the globe. It was beautiful to see you, to hear you, and to celebrate with you. You gave us hope and joy throughout all of our games. We’ll keep our heads up, and we will come back stronger.

“Finally, I want to wish congratulations to Switzerland.”
