Thomas Tuchel names three Chelsea players he’s very happy with after 1-0 win over City

Thomas Tuchel has named three Chelsea stars he is very happy with after their FA Cup semi-final win against Manchester City on Saturday.

The German tactician said any player who he gives the opportunity to be on the pitch must show that he deserves to play.

“When you’re on the pitch you need to show you play your part, you play your role for 100%, that you’re reliable,” the former PSG boss said at post-match press conference after Chelsea defeated Manchester City 1-0 to qualify for the FA Cup final.

Tuchel said he was very happy with Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner and Kepa Arrizabalaga because they made good use of the opportunity given to them against Pep Guardiola’s side.

The Blues scored through a rapid counter attack in the second half when Mason Mount’s through ball found Werner, who cut the ball across the box for Hakim Ziyech to roll it into an empty net.

“Everybody who is on the pitch deserves to be on the pitch. When you’re on the pitch, you need to show you play your part, you play your role for 100%, that you’re reliable.

“This is what Hakim [Ziyech] did, this is what Timo [Werner] did, this is what Kepa [Arrizabalaga] did today. This is very important.

“I’m very happy for them but on the other hand, this is exactly what we need.”
