Premier League: Iwobi Benched As Everton Claim First Win At Arsenal In 25 Years

Alex Iwobi was an unused substitute as an error from Bernd Leno saw Everton clinch a 1-0 win at the Emirates, their first at the Gunners since 1996.

Everton have now done the double over Arsenal for the first time since 1986.

Also, Arsenal have lost seven home league games for the first time since the inaugural Premier League season of 1992-93

The win for Everton put more pressure on those above them in the race for the Champions League spots, while leaving Arsenal way behind the pack.

The Merseyside club are on 52 points just three points behind Chelsea in fourth position while Arsenal are ninth.

Leno spilled Richarlison’s cross through his own legs in the 76th minute to give the Toffees the lead from what was one of their only attacks of the second half.

Arsenal were awarded a penalty after Richarlison fouled Dani Ceballos but the decision was overturned as another contentious VAR review found Nicolas Pepe to be offside in the build up.
