‘It’s Like you have Personal Issue with Mane’ – Klopp Confronts Referee

Liverpool manager has revealed what he told the referee after Liverpool’s 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals first leg in Spain on Tuesday.

Klopp said he told the referee that he, referee Felix Brych treated Liverpool forward, Sadio Mane ‘unfairly’ and appeared to have a ‘personal’ problem with the Senegalese during the game.

Klopp watched his side slip to a 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid on Tuesday and Mane was booked for dissent in the first half after appearing to argue with the referee following Real Madrid’s second goal.

Mane argued that he was fouled before Toni Kroos’s pass that led to Marco Asensio goal

But Klopp felt Brych was ‘unfair’ towards Mane and told him after the game that he appeared to have a ‘personal’ issue with the Senegal international.

“The situation with Sadio, I’m not sure what the ref did tonight,” Klopp said in his post-match interview.

“It seemed like it was sort of personal. I told him after the game, ‘I just thought he was unfair with Sadio.’

“He didn’t lose us the game but you need just an OK ref.”

Klopp and his Liverpool side will welcome Zinedine Zidane’s Real at Anfield next week hoping to overturn the two goals deficit.
