FA Cup: Thomas Tuchel Names Players that caused Man City Problems during 1-0 win

Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel singled out Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner as two players that troubled Manchester City’s defence during the Blues 1-0 triumph over Pep Guardiola’s side at Wembley on Saturday.

Chelsea booked their place in the FA Cup final on Saturday, beating Man City 1-0 in the process and Tuchel had Werner and Ziyech to praise for the victory.

The Blues were the more dangerous side at Wembley as they exploited the space behind City’s defence time after time.

The west London side scored through a rapid counter attack in the second half when Mason Mount’s through ball found Werner, who cut the ball across the box for Hakim Ziyech to roll it into an empty net.

Tuchel brought back Ziyech and Werner into the starting lineup for Christian Pulisic and Kai Havertz.

“The two guys [Ziyech and Werner] were very, very good upfront with the speed and acceleration – and the impact that Mason [had] with the pass,” the German told BBC.

“Timo and Hakim, it was the same lineup like against Liverpool where they were also very, very strong in an away game in a 1-0 victory.

“It was a very, very strong performance. Very happy and proud. We played an excellent 35 minutes in the first half. We had to suffer for 10 minutes.

“We then played another 30 minutes so strong and got the lead, could have got another. It was a very strong performance and I am very proud of my team. Very happy they performed to this level today.”

Leicester City and Southampton meet at Wembley today for the other semi final game and Chelsea now wait patiently for whoever make it to the final.
