Champions League: Real Madrid Suffer Fresh Injury Blow Ahead of Liverpool Clash at Anfield

Real Madrid have suffered a fresh injury setback after their winger, Lucas Vázquez, picked up a sprain in his left leg ahead of their Champions League quarter-final second-leg clash with Liverpool on Wednesday night at Anfield.

Vázquez had sustained the injury during Real Madrid’s LaLiga El Clasico 2-1 win over Barcelona on Saturday.

Real Madrid disclosed this in a statement via the club’s website on Sunday.

The statement read, “Following tests carried out today on Lucas Vázquez by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a sprain to the posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. His recovery will continue to be assessed.”

Zinedine Zidane’s side had defeated Liverpool 3-1 in the Champions League quarter-final first-leg last week.

The Los Blancos are currently on top of the LaLiga table with 66 points from 30 games.
