Champions League: Mbappé, Griezmann react as PSG demolish Barcelona 4-1 at Camp Nou

Kylian Mbappé scored a hat-trick to help Paris Saint-Germain beat Barcelona 4-1 at Camp Nou in the Champions League round of 16 on Tuesday.

And reacting after the game, the French said he had always wanted to give his team the best of his performance.

Also, his national teammate and Barcelona forward, Antoine Griezmann, described the game as a bad one for him and his teammates, adding that they will now have to work until the last second in the second leg in France.

Barcelona dominated the early stages of the game with Keylor Navas denying Griezmann before Lionel Messi scored from the spot after Layvin Kurzawa tripped Frenkie de Jong in the area.

However, PSG responded emphatically with Mbappé firing in the equaliser, and struck twice midway through the second half.

Mbappé netted his second of the night after Alessandro Florenzi burst in behind the home defence, then Moise Kean headed in a Leandro Paredes free-kick to make it 3-1.

The France World Cup winner then delivered the final blow five minutes from time,

Reacting after the game, Mbappé told UEFA.com, “I’ve always wanted to give the best of myself with Paris Saint-Germain. It’s a shirt that means a lot to me

“I haven’t always succeeded and maybe I’ll have bad games, but I’ve never been someone to hide, even if I make mistakes.”

Griezmann said, “This isn’t the image we want to present. It’s now a case of lifting ourselves, working until the last second of the tie and seeing what happens. This was a bad performance.”

Both teams will play a number of league fixtures prior to the second leg on Wednesday March 10.

Barcelona will play Cádiz and Elche at home, then play Sevilla away in LaLiga before facing them again in Copa del Rey at Camp Nou, then travel to Osasuna for another league game.

For PSG, they will play Monaco at home, then travel to Dijon and Bordeaux before facing Barcelona at home.
