Lionel Messi's 'Karate Kick' Shot Vs Huesca Is The Worst Of His Barcelona Career

Lionel Messi arguably took the worst shot of his entire career during Barcelona's 1-0 win over Huesca.

The six-time Ballon d'Or winner returned to the starting line-up on Sunday after missing a midweek draw with Eibar through injury.

It was nearly a perfect return for Messi, as Jordi Alba floated a ball towards the back post.

But he fluffed his lines and smashed a half-volley into the advertising boards. Even Messi himself looked embarrassed.

Messi's strike didn't go unnoticed on social media and fans think it shows why he has just seven La Liga goals this campaign.

Frenkie de Jong's first half strike was the difference, but Barcelona were incredibly wasteful in front of goal.

Manager Ronald Koeman was happy with the victory and made special note of the Blaugrana's style of play.

"It was a very important result tonight," he told Movistar per OneFootball. "We always want to play and create chances. We had a lot of possession and opportunities to score."

Messi had a free kick saved by Alvaro Fernandez and Ousmane Dembele had a goalbound shot blocked.

But the home side dominated in the final 20 minutes are were unlucky to escape without a point.

"Huesca went for it at the end and we had to defend," Koeman continued. "We find it difficult to defend because we are used to having the ball. We had to defend the result, although they didn't create plenty of chances either."

Barcelona are fifth in La Liga and ten points behind Atletico Madrid in top spot.
