Fans Convinced Frank Lampard Will Get Sacked After Blaming Chelsea Players In Post-Match Interview

Frank Lampard was slammed by football fans for the post-match interview he gave following Chelsea's 2-0 defeat to Leicester City.

Fans are convinced Lampard won't survive the season after blaming the attitude of his Chelsea players on Tuesday.

His side slumped to their sixth Premier League defeat of the campaign with the 42-year-old taking aim at his team's performance at the King Power Stadium.

He told Sky Sports: "Beaten by the better team. They were sharper than us, ran more than us and they looked in form - we looked out of form."

First-half goals from Wilfred Ndidi and James Maddison condemned the Blues to their second league defeat since the turn of the year.

Lampard continued: "There were quite a lot of moments where our sharpness wasn't there, those are moments you have to dig in and the basics are important like running and sprinting and we didn't do that.

"The most disappointing thing is to come here and lose the game but the basics off the ball are important. The game on the ball was a bit slow at times but it was okay, we created a few opportunities and I thought it was a penalty but I'm not going to lean on those things. We weren't good enough.

"We won against Fulham without playing brilliant, from that we come and lose a game so it's a small step backwards.

"I am worried about the slump - from the form we were in to get so quickly into the form we're now in and we've had some wins but five losses in eight isn't where we want to be.

"It takes character to get out of that - I'm not against the lads in the dressing room because they're disappointed. It's a young team and it's a big lesson that if you come off it and think you're fine then you've got to get yourself out of the hole."

Lampard's interview didn't go down too well with supporters on social media.

One tweeted: "Lampard blaming the attitude again? Surely there comes a point where he HAS to take some responsibility for it."

A second wrote: "Lampard throwing the players under the bus for the fourth time this season, yet pundits won't talk about it. They would have turn it top big topic if it was Mourinho."

A third added: "Too many of our players didn't do the basics because you didn't buy the right players that suit the way Chelsea plays. Super Frankie is not ready for this job"

Another said: "With this interview, I don't think Lampard can survive the season. I feel he is in loggerheads with some top players in the squad. Because why would you be saying almost every week that your players are not doing the basics. What is the training there for?"

Chelsea turn their attention to the FA Cup as they host Championship outfit Luton Town on Sunday before resuming their faltering league campaign against Wolves.
