Arsenal 'Make Loan Approach' For Real Madrid's Martin Odegaard

Arsenal have made a loan offer for Real Madrid star Martin Odegaard as he searches for regular first-team football.

Odegaard has expressed his desire to leave the club in a bid for minutes under his belt having played just seven La Liga games this season.

And with Arsenal recently offloading Mesut Ozil, Sky Sports say Mikel Arteta has approached the Spanish giants over a short-term deal.

Arteta wants him on loan for the rest of the season which will give the midfielder and his side to figure out his long-term future.

The 22-year-old wasn't included in his side's humiliating Copa del Rey upset to Alcoyano on Wednesday with a move away on the cards.

Manchester United are reportedly also keeping tabs on the Danish international.

Dani Ceballos, who's on loan from Real, spoke about Odegaard's situation amid transfer speculation.

"I can tell you about what happened to me at Madrid," he said.

"I don't know exactly what happens about Martin, but it is obvious that any player who wants to succeed at Madrid is going to grab the opportunity he has.

I don't know what Martin's thoughts are but I know mine and I think that when you are young and you have goals and objectives, what you need is to play regularly and if you don't, it's like something is missing.

"I imagine that is what is happening to Martin."

Odegaard was just 16 when he signed for Real, but he's barely featured for the first team - enjoying loan spells at Heerenveen, Vitesse, and Real Sociedad during his career.

He proved he could hack it in Spain's top flight, performing wonders at Sociedad - chipping in with seven goals in all competitions.
