Petr Cech returned to action for Chelsea's under 23s against Spurs under 23s on Monday night and it took him some time to clear away the cobwebs.
Chelsea surprised everyone when they named the 38-year-old in their Premier League squad for the season back in October, over a year after he retired from playing for Arsenal and returned to the Blues as a technical advisor.
With Frank Lampard having three other goalkeepers in his senior squad, it wasn't expected the four times Premier League winner would add to his 494 appearances for the Blues.
On Monday night though he did return to action in a Chelsea shirt, as the west London side's under 23 team took on Spurs under 23s in the Premier League 2.
Things didn't get off to a great start for the Czech goalie. He attempted to pass the ball out to a defender in just the second minute of the game but instead gave away a corner. From the set piece Spurs went 1-0 up as Jubril Okedina scored following some poor defending.
Things went from bad to worse for the homeside as 15 minutes later 16-year-old Dane Scarlett doubled the lead for the visitors.
Harvey White, who made his first team debut earlier this season, played a long ball into the box which Scarlett met with his head, Cech was stranded in his area unsure whether to commit to the cross or not as the ball sailed over him.
Despite the bad start, Andy Myers' side were able to comeback and earn the win over their local rivals. Myler Peart-Harris got one back from the penalty spot just before the hour mark before Marcel Harris levelled things up just two minutes later.
Peart-Harris then got his second of the game, and the winner, in the 88th minute, after both sides had seen a man sent off.
Another former Chelsea first teamer, although with far less appearances than Cech, was involved in the double red card incident.
Former Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater kicked out at Alfie Devine, after the youngster's awful challenge on him.
