Manchester United Fans Are Convinced Donny van de Beek Should Start More Often After Starring For The Netherlands

Donny van de Beek showed Manchester United what they've been missing as he starred for the Netherlands against Spain.

Van de Beek has yet to start a Premier League game under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since joining from Ajax for £35 million in the summer.

But he's performed brilliantly whenever he's represented his national team, delivering stellar performances against Italy and Spain.

The Dutch midfielder scored for his side in the 1-1 draw with Spain as he impressed United fans with his outing on the international scene.

And his individual highlights make for impressive viewing. From breaking up play to neatly setting up attacks.

Van de Beek's showing on Wednesday got United talking on social media.

One Twitter user wrote: "Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hope you are watching what Donny van de Beek is doing in his national team."

A second tweeted: "Donny van de Beek scoring against the likes of Italy and Spain and he doesn't even start for United his positioning in the box is so good."

A third added: "Donny van de Beek scoring goals against Italy and Spain but people still think the Premier League will be too hard for him. His footballing brain is so advanced. He's ready."

Speaking after the game, the 23-year-old said he's desperate for more game-time.

"It sounds (like a) cliche for me to say this, because of course I would have liked to play more, but I really enjoy being in a nice team. I am simply received very well and helped by everyone," he explained.

"I'm a patient person, but of course you go there to play as much as possible.

"I also think - in the minutes that I have made, in the times that I have come in - I have shown that I can add something to the team."

The Netherlands resume their international schedule with Nations League fixtures against Bosnia and Herzegovina and Poland.
