Bayern Munich chief Salihamidzic confirms Chelsea talks over Hudson-Odoi

Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic admits it was very tough for the club to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi this summer.

The Bavarians were in the market for another winger after they let Ivan Perisic return to Inter Milan.

They tried hard to secure Hudson-Odoi on a loan, or a loan with an obligation to buy, deal.

But Chelsea did not budge, and Bayern eventually loaned Douglas Costa from Juventus.

"There are transfers that come to the point where you have to say: 'We have to leave this immediately'," Salihamidzic told Sport Bild.

"It is all the more important that one thinks about alternatives or alternative paths right from the start.

"We negotiated with Chelsea but there was no agreement. That happens."

He added: "(Hudson-Odoi) is one of the greatest talents in that position.

"He can play wide and as a No. 10 so it's entirely legitimate that we at Bayern Munich are interested in him."
