Matthew Briggs' journey from Premier League's youngest player to working at a construction site

The defender's career peaked too early with club and personal issues highlighting just how quickly a promising career can fall apart

Before Harvey Elliott claimed the mantle of being the Premier League's youngest ever player, Matthew Briggs had been reluctantly carrying that honour for over a decade.

Making his Premier League debut only 65 days after his 16th birthday, Briggs had to return to school the next day for exams as he and his classmates struggled to comprehend his quick ascent.
