Rohr Clears air on NFF Dictating Which Super Eagles Players Should be Picked

Head coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohrs, has made it clear that no one dictates to him the players to pick.

Rohr stated this while speaking on Channels Television on Monday.
The German agreed a new two-year deal with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) last week, after his initial contract expired.
“It is not a part of my contract to take players who are not so good.
“I can choose my players myself. It is the most important [thing]. So, nobody can tell me ‘You have to pick this one or that one’,” he said.
Rohr also explained how he consults with his assistants before team selection.
“We have a team and our staff. I have my assistant, I have my analyzer. Each Monday we have our meetings and we speak about the games played at the weekend and what our players did. We have to take the best ones no matter where they are coming from,” he added.
Rohr took over from Sunday Oliseh in 2016.
During his spell with the Eagles, he has qualified the team for the 2018 World Cup and claimed bronze at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
