I Will Like To Meet My Nigerian Father – Chelsea Star Ross Barkley




England international and Blues midfielder, Ross Barkley has once again stressed his desire to unite with his Nigerian father who according to him broke up with his mother when the going was rough.

Barkley who was born and raised in England where he now represents the Three Lions while speaking in an interview on his life and career said he would no doubt love to link up with his father.

In his words, “Maybe the one thing I will like to add to my career if I can is to meet with my father. He is a Nigerian who left my mother while I was still very young and since then I haven’t set my eyes on him.”
According to findings, Barkley’s father is a Nigerian named Patrick Effange who was a construction worker with the railway in the United Kingdom. He left while the Chelsea midfielder was around one year old and never returned.

The player now bears his mother’s maiden name, ‘Barkley’ as his surname replacing his father’s name, ‘Effanga’. Since making his debut for Everton as an 18 year old academy graduate, the 25 year old has had an enjoyable career in the EPL.

Two seasons ago, he teamed up with the Blues, Chelsea but injuries and poor form has affected his chances of getting a guaranteed place.

However, before the forced break in football caused by the outbreak of coronavirus, he was starting to stamp his authority as a regular in Frank Lampard’s squad.
