Conor Hourihan: I chose Aston Villa ahead of Sheffield Wednesday, Fulham

Aston Villa midfielder Conor Hourihan has spoken of the offers he had in the Championship.
Hourihan caught the eye of former Villa boss Steve Bruce at Barnsley four years ago.
He told Going Up, Going Down EFL podcast: "There were some clubs that said If I saw my contract out they'd sign me on a free in the summer. This was way back in the December time.
"Listen, I have no problems saying them, it was Sheffield Wednesday and Fulham all the way until probably Christmas time.
"I can't go to Sheffield Wednesday, no way. I couldn't ruin the relationship I'd got with [Barnsley].
"Would I have wanted to go down to London with Fulham at the time? I wasn't sure.
"Then, around Christmas time, Bruce and Villa came in and I just thought, 'I can't turn down Villa!'
"You never know what would have happened if I stayed to see out my contract, I could have got injured, could have lost form.
"Villa felt the right fit. It wasn't too far away from Sheffield where I was quite settled and loved the city living there. It felt like the right club.
