The Third Fight Is On! Boxing Promoter CONFIRMS Deontay Wilder Vs Tyson Fury Rematch Again Is On

Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury will face off again in their trilogy fight after the Wilder team officially triggered his rematch clause.

Tyson Fury's Boxing promoter in the US, Bob Arum, confirmed the heavyweight rivals will fight again in July.

"Wilder and his representatives have formally notified us that they have accepted a rematch and are going forward with plans," Arum told Ringside Reporter.

"It's going to happen this summer, before the busy Olympics. Mid-July."

The duo first faced off in 2018 before Tyson Fury defeated Wilder in the seventh round in Las Vegas last Saturday to win the WBC heavyweight title.

Wilder had 30 days to decide and call for a rematch and now his camp have 'formally notified' their intention for him to fight Tyson Fury again in a third bout this summer.

It will delay the demand for an all-British heavyweight fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, who holds three belts.

Joshua is now set to fight the Bulgarian Kubrat Pulev in a mandatory IBF bout in June in London.

34-year-old Wilder came out with a number of excuses for his defeat against Fury and even said that his 45lb ring walk costume 'weakened' his legs.

He was also thrown off balance by a cut in his ear and was left furious at his trainer Mark Breland for throwing in the towel in the seventh round.

Breland, who had worked with Wilder since he entered into professional boxing in 2008, was sacked as a result of his decision.

Wilder had hinted that he would trigger the rematch clause after a clip he posted on social media on Saturday.

He announced plans to 'rise like a phoenix from the ashes and regain the title'.

Wilder added: "Your king is back here and I'm not going anywhere again, for the way has just begun.

"I'm a king that will not give up and will fight to the death. I am a warrior, I will be back and I am strong."

However, Promoter Arum added: "If Joshua defeats Pulev and Fury beats Wilder again, then why not do a Joshua vs Fury fight at the end of this year.

"And we would certainly then discuss with Eddie Hearn and work things out. So everybody is demanding the same thing. But again, these fights must be completed first."
