Chelsea Defender Emerson Palmieri Told To QUIT Blues

Italy National Coach Roberto Mancini has urged Chelsea defender Emerson to return the Serie A and fight for his place.

25-year-old Emerson has struggled for playing time under Frank Lampard this season and has endured a frustrating life since joining in January 2018 from AS Roma.

And Emerson may now seek lead Chelsea in a bid to ensure a spot at the next international tournament most likely EURO 2020.

With the tournament postponed for a year due to the coronavirus pandemic, Mancini now has more time to consider his squad and Emerson will have to battle it out fo a spot in the squad.

‘As for full-backs, we know Adam Masina, although he went off the radar a bit after his transfer to Watford,’ Mancini told Gazzetta dello Sport.

‘Pellegrini already spent time with the squad and can also improve.

‘It would be great if Emerson Palmieri, who hasn’t played for Chelsea, could return and play in Italy.’

However, Emerson’s future at Chelsea appears even more uncertain amid rumours that the Blues are interested in signing Leicester full back Ben Chilwell in the summer.

Juventus and Inter Milan have shown interests in snapping up the Brazilian-born defender, with Maurizio Sarri and Antonio Conte both interested in re-signing the player they worked with in England.

Emerson’s agent Luis Fernando Garcia told Juvenews: ‘We know about Juventus’ interest but also Inter. So far there has been no talk about a move with Chelsea, nor has there been any offer.

‘I believe that there will be no official offers from both clubs until May. In the summer we will see what happens.’
