Arsenal are now ready to show their interest in Manchester united defender Chris Smalling and trying to snatch him from AS Roma.
After a tough campaign at Manchester United, Smalling is back to his his best form with AS Roma in the Serie A and has been linked with a permanent transfer to the Italian club.
According to Italian Newspaper Corriere dello Sport, Arsenal are ready to make their move but other clubs have been impressed by Smalling’s impressive displays.
Manchester United want at least an asking price of £25million for Chris Smalling, which AS Roma will struggle to pay if they fail to secure Champions League next season.
Before football was suspended in Italy due to the coronavirus outbreak, Roma were fifth on the Serie A table, three points behind Atalanta in fourth and final Champions League spot.
Arsenal Coach Mikel Arteta is expected to sign more defensive options during the next transfer window.
Smalling has played 28 matches for Roma in the 2019-20 season, scoring two goals and England Coach Gareth Southgate even went to watch him in action
Tottenham Coach Jose Mourinho, who was Coach at Manchester United has also been linked with a bid for his former player.
