Messi Makes Another Record after Barcelona’s 3-2 Win Over Real Betis

Barcelona captain, Lionel Messi on Sunday night made another record following his side’s 3-2 win over Real Betis in the La Liga.
The Quique Setien’s side defeated Real Betis, thanks to goals from Frenkie de Jong, Sergio Busquets, and Clement Lenglet at Benito Villamarin as two goals from Sergio Canales and Nabil Fekir were not enough to get a point for the host.
According to the Daily Star, Messi recorded a hat-trick of assists against Real Betis to become just the second player in Europe’s top five leagues to reach double figures in goals and assists this term, after RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner.
The Argentine captain also equalled Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho as the other player in double figures for goals and assists this campaign.
DAILY POST recalls that Messi had last week set a record in his side’s Copa del Rey quarter-final 1-0 defeat to Athletic Bilbao.
Messi has now scored 14 goals and registered 11 assists for the La Liga champions so far this season.
The 32-year-old will now hope to lead Barcelona to victory when they take on Getafe in their next La Liga fixture on February 15.
