Lyon Defender, Fernando Marcal Scores Funny Own Goal in 4-2 Defeat to Paris Saint-Germain

Lyon left-back Marcal scored a goal Kylian Mbappe would be proud of – shame it was in the wrong net.

We’ve all experienced those moments playing FIFA where we feel like throwing the controller out of a window after striking the woodwork following build-up play you only see at the Camp Nou.

And on Sunday night, against Mbappe’s Paris Saint-Germain side, the Brazilian left-back experienced that feeling when he scored one of the most bizarre own goals you will ever see, rifling a Julian Draxler cutback into the roof of his goal to put PSG 3-0 up in Paris.

The goal did seem to change the game ever so slightly as quick-fire goals from Martin Terrier and Moussa Dembele seven minutes apart mounted what looked like a comeback.

However, with just over ten minutes left to play Edinson Cavani put the game to bed as he restored PSG’s two goal lead.

The 4-2 win leaves the champions 12 points clear of Marseille at the top of Ligue 1, but the talking point will no doubt be the strikers finish by Marcal, a moment he will want to forget as soon as possible.
