Chelsea Agree £38m Deal To Sign Ajax Star Hakim Ziyech

Chelsea have reached a verbal agreement with Ajax for the transfer of Hakim Ziyech in a £38million deal.

The Blues failed to sign anyone in the January transfer window despite their two-window FIFA ban being overturned, but now appear set to sign one of their major targets.

According to Dutch outlet De Telegraaf, Chelsea wanted to sign Ziyech in January but the Eredivisie champions Ajax refused to sell as they bid to win the league.

But the midfielder is now set to join Chelsea after a £45m verbal agreement was reached between the two clubs for Ziyech to move to the Premier League at the end of the season.

Lampard instructed the Chelsea hierarchy that they must sign Ziyech and the 41-year-old is a big fan of the playmaker.

The 26-year-old has played for Ajax since 2016 and only signed a new three-year contract recently in the summer.

He has scored eight goals and provided 21 assists from 29 appearances this season.

He was a key player in the team that won the league, the KNVB Cup and reached the Champions League semi-finals last season, scoring 21 goals and 24 assists in 49 games.

Ziyech wants to win the two competitions once again and will only join Chelsea until the end of the season.

The player is yet to sign a contract with Chelsea officially, which means some European clubs can still Hijack the deal ahead of the summer transfer window.

But Chelsea are still the only team in negotiations with Ajax, and also the dutch club have never come close to giving verbal agreement to any other clubs.

Ziyech impressed against Chelsea in Europe this season, providing three assists in a shocking 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge back in November.
