Atletico Madrid vs Liverpool: Michael Owen Predicts Champions League Clash

Former Premier League and La Liga striker, Michael Owen, has given his prediction for tonight’s UEFA Champions League clash between Atletico Madrid and Liverpool.

Atletico Madrid will host Liverpool at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in the Champions League round of 16 first-leg fixture.

Diego Simeone’s side head to the match following a 2-2 draw with Valencia in La Liga last weekend, while the Reds defeated Norwich City 1-0 in the Premier League on Saturday.

Providing his prediction, Owen was quoted by Sport Review as saying: “Liverpool goes into Tuesday’s Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitan Stadium with almost fully fit squad where they won their sixth Champions League trophy last June.

“Diego Simeone’s side is unbeaten in their last thirteen Champions League knockout fixtures at home, but Atletico has some few injuries worries going into today’s game.

“Jurgen Klopp’s men were not at their best against Norwich City in the Premier League last Saturday, but they found a way to beat the visitors by 1-0.

“However, I see Liverpool leaving Spain with a draw to take back to England.

“I feel it would be an honour for Atletico even to get a point against the Premier League leaders.”

The match is scheduled for 9pm.
