Arsenal Confirm Five Key Players will Miss Olympiacos Clash

Arsenal has confirmed that the Gunners will be without five key players when they take on Olympiacos in tonight’s UEFA Europa League round of 32 first-leg tie at the Karaiskakis Stadium due to injuries, illness and personal reasons.

Mikel Arteta’s men head to the game following a 4-0 victory over Newcastle United in the Premier League in their last encounter.

“Calum Chambers (Left knee): ruptured anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee during Arsenal’s clash with Chelsea last December. Successful surgery completed.

Rehabilitation process expected to take between six to nine months,” Arsenal wrote on their official website on Wednesday.

“Mesut Ozil: will not take part in Olympiacos clash due to personal reasons.

“Cedric Soares (Left knee): Progressing well with gym work, aiming to be in full training by the end of February.

“Lucas Torreira (illness): Has not traveled on the club flight to Athens on Wednesday due to illness. He is being assessed in the next 24 hours. If there is a significant improvement will fly to Athens in time for the match.

“Kieran Tierney (Right shoulder): Dislocated right shoulder during Arsenal’s clash with West Ham United last December. Good progress being made in the rehabilitation process and has commenced participation in group training sessions. Aiming to be back in full training by the end of February.”
