Ikeme Releases Book ‘Why Not Me’ On Successful Fight Against Leukaemia



Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Carl Ikeme has released a book that includes his experience of being diagnosed with leukemia and how he survived the dreaded ailment.

The book titled ‘Why Not Me’ was written in conjunction with Paul Berry, a former journalist and head of media at English Premier League club, Wolverhampton Wanderers.

“My book why not me is OUT NOW !! 🚨 It’s is apart of the Black Weekend sales @Wolves #whynotme,” Ikeme tweeted on his Twitter platform on Saturday.

Why Not Me is an extraordinary and inspirational story which looks at every aspect of the most important ‘save’ Ikeme has ever made and delivers a healthy sense of perspective to readers’ everyday life.


Wolverhampton Wanderers announced on July 6th, 2017 that Ikeme had been diagnosed with acute leukemia after returning abnormal blood tests during a routine pre-season check-up.

Ikeme told the public on June 23rd, 2018 that he was in complete remission after a tough year and intense chemotherapy.

He announced his retirement from football on medical grounds the following month.

The 33-year-old was capped 10 times by Nigeria.
