Vandrezzer FC Coach Everton Unveiled Amid Pomp and Pageantry

Toeing the path of established indigenous companies in Nigeria like First Bank and Union Bank, Vandrezzer Energy Service Limited has launched an exciting buzz in the Nigerian football arena with the unveiling of Vandrezzer Football Club of Ibiono, Akwa Ibom State.

In a media chat with journalists in Use Abat, Ibiono LGA of Akwa Ibom State, the company’s CEO/Managing Director, Mr Joe Udofia, stated that this new club will exceed previously known heights of club football in the history of Nigeria. His vision of a club filled with rich history, culture, passion and legacy will rival European giants the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, Barcelona and Bayern Munich, in delivering quality football to fans and foes.

The club which was formed on September 11, 2019, will compete in its debut season in the Nigeria National League (NNL).

Speaking at the ground-breaking unveiling ceremony of Vandrezzer FC, the club’s Vice-Chairman, Mr Bruno Tupere, reiterated the ambition of the club to be the creme-DE-la creme of Nigerian football.

In line with this lofty vision, the array of personnel unveiled at the St. Theresa Primary School, Use Abat, Ibiono Ibom, venue of the event, showcased an intent to conquer the Nigeria National League (NNL) and transcend to the apex of the Nigerian football scene.

First, was the Head Coach of the newly established outfit: it is no other than the experienced Brazilian tactician in the person of Rafael Everton. His pedigree in transforming a club into a winning unit was evidenced in his days at Abia Warriors, Ifeanyi Ubah and Akwa United, though the later fell a tad short of winning the league in the abridged 2019 NPFL season.
He comes to Vandrezzer FC with a crucial lesson learnt from his previous employers: what didn’t work.

In his first official speech to the fans, Everton stated that he was determined to turn around the modus operandi and deliver high quality football that will match what obtains in top leagues around the world. His target is to take Vandrezzer FC to the Nigeria Professional Football League in their first season.

Coach Everton will be assisted by Israel Jose Lira, a Brazilian, and a backroom staff led by Daniel Japheth, whom he worked with in his stint at Akwa United.

Following this illustrious introduction were the 30 on-field players of Vandrezzer FC. From the attacking to defensive departments, this club is not short of talented young, ambitious players who are out to prove a point in their maiden season in the NNL.

The squad is a fine blend of experienced players from the NPFL coupled with the energetic vibrancy of youth from the NNL. The pompous display accompanying the introduction of each player speaks of the innovative drive inherent in the club’s hierarchy. Each player stood by a personalised banner, with the cheering fans urging them on. Count by count, the players took their positions. It was a fanfare to behold.

Vandrezzer FC debut game will be against J Atete in Warri Delta State.

Currently in its fourth season, the competition has actualized the rise of homegrown talent in Ibiono, Itak and Ikono communities of Akwa Ibom State.

Vandrezzer FC has in its line up three Ibiono-born players, duly registered with the National Professional League.

Vandrezzer FC has its corporate sponsor as Vandrezzer Energy Services Limited. It is an indigenous oil and gas engineering-procurement-construction-installation company based in Lagos and Port Harcourt.
