Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli is the first player to react since the news was announced about the sacking of Coach Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentine was dismissed after a disappointing start to the season had left the Champions League finalists 14th in the Premier League.
Alli, who was brought to Spurs from MK Dons by Pochettino in 2015, thanked his former manager on social media after news went viral.
“I can’t thank this man enough,” he tweeted two hours after Pochettino’s sacking was announced.
He’s taught me so much and I’m so grateful for everything he’s done for me.
“Good luck and hope to see you again my friend.”
Six months after he led the club to the Champions League final and after five years in charge, Pochettino was relieved of his duties by chairman Daniel Levy.
Pressure had been mounting on the Argentine after winning only three of their opening 12 Premier League games.
