Tottenham Ready £50m Bid For Man Utd Flop Memphis Depay

Tottenham are preparing a £50m bid for Lyon star Memphis Depay after impressing in the French Ligue 1. However, Manchester United could hold all the cards and steal him from under their noses.

The Dutchman has been thriving in France following his short stint at United.

Having been signed for £25million back in 2015, he failed to deliver at Old Trafford.

Depay played 53 games in all competitions, scoring just seven times.

At Lyon, however, it has been a different story.

The 25-year-old has played 130 times for the French side, and has an incredible return.

Depay has scored 50 times and provided 42 assists throughout his time at the Groupama Stadium.

His performances has attracted the attention of a number of leading clubs including Tottenham who have had the speedy forward regularly scouted including in the two recent Champions League games between Lyon and Benfica.

Liverpool were reported to be interested in him over the summer, but now it is Tottenham who are keen to bring him back to England.

Spurs are apparently ready to pay £50m for the striker, but are nervous that United could swoop in under them.

Despite having sold him in 2017, United retain a buy-back agreement with Lyon, meaning they can leapfrog Spurs in the queue if they wish to.
