IOC President Bach Visits Nigeria Next Week With 54 ANOCA Bosses



The President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), Engr Habu Gumel stated in Abuja on Thursday that adequate preparation have been put in place to formally welcome into Nigeria next week, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) President, His Excellency Dr. Thomas Bach.

This visit is scheduled for November 13 -14, 2019 in FCT, Abuja.

The IOC President will be accompanied by the 54 Presidents of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) and some other dignitaries.

This is the second time a seating IOC President will be visiting Nigeria. The first being the coming of Dr. Jaques Rogge in 2009 which was an historic visit.

Bach, a German lawyer and former Olympic fencer will be on a two-day working visit where he is expected to pay a courtesy call on President Muhammadu Buhari. Mr Sunday Dare, the Honourable Minister of Youths and Sports will join him to commission the Association of National Olympic Committee of Africa (ANOCA) Headquarters building in Abuja.

Gumel, further informed that he will visit Aduvie International School Jahi, Abuja an NOC Partner School and have interactions with some of Nigeria’s ex- Olympians.
