OFFICIAL: Liverpool Confirm Club World Cup Participation In Qatar

Liverpool have confirmed plans to participate in the 2019 Club World Cup in December despite tough fixtures scheduled. Jurgen Klopp's side, who are top of the Premier League after nine games, might end up playing in the Club World Cup final on December 21 in Qatar before facing Leicester City on Boxing Day.

And they have now confirmed they will be taking part in the competition, which they qualified for by winning the Champions League, which could see them play four games in just 12 days.

A statement read: 'Liverpool is to participate in the FIFA Club World Cup, a tournament which brings together teams from six football federations from around the world.'

As part of its preparations, the club is taking part in a series of fact-finding meetings and consultations with various authorities, including FIFA, the Qatar Supreme Committee, the UK Foreign Office and a range of non-governmental organisations.

'The club values and appreciates the input that has been provided by various supporters groups, notably Spirit Of Shankly and Kop Outs, throughout this process and will continue to work with all relevant stakeholders in order to ensure travelling fans are provided with the information they require.

'In keeping with that ongoing commitment, the club will offer updates at the appropriate times and would encourage supporters to monitor official LFC channels.'
