Liverpool Fans Happy As Goalkeeper Alisson Returns To Training

The club’s official Twitter account posted a picture of Alisson back at Melwood. The Brazilian has not played for Liverpool since the opening game of the season on August 8.
Liverpool’s 4-1 win over Norwich that night was marred after Alisson was forced off with a calf problem before half-time.

He has since missed the Reds’ last 11 games as a result, though it has not hampered Jurgen Klopp’s side. They have won 10 of those matches across all competitions including eight from eight in the Premier League, which situates them at the summit of the table eight points clear of title rivals Manchester City.

Adrian - a free agent before he joined Liverpool in early August - has deputised brilliantly for Alisson, who was named in the recently-announced FIFPro World XI for 2019, such have been his performances on Merseyside over the last 12 months.
But Liverpool fans were understandably delighted to welcome back their No 1 shot-stopper on Tuesday, given how key the South American was to their Champions League-winning campaign last term.
Alisson won the Premier League Golden Glove, conceding just 22 goals in 38 games, and also kept six clean sheets in the Champions League and leaked only one goal in six games as Brazil won the Copa America over the summer.

He had been undergoing an intensive individual training programme in recent weeks to get him back up to speed for Liverpool’s first game after the current international break, away at arch-rivals Manchester United this Sunday (4.30pm).

Alisson is expected to go straight back into the starting line-up at Old Trafford against United despite Adrian faring well in the nine weeks the first-choice keeper has been absent.
