Fans Accuse Ronaldo Of Diving Against Genoa

Cristiano Ronaldo was on hand to help Juventus triumph over Genoa after scoring a stoppage-time goal from the spot. However, Ronaldo has been accused of “blatant” and “disgraceful” diving to secure the penalty for Juventus after Genoa had two of their players sent off.

The Portugal star, 34, went down when Antonio Sanabria tried to shepherd him away from goal deep into injury time.

Ronaldo left his leg dangling and went tumbling to the ground as soon as he felt contact and the referee chose to award a penalty to the Bianconeri. Ronaldo stepped up, scored, and sealed three points for the Italian giants.

But fans believe his fall was intentional and took to social media to blast the five-time Ballon d’Or winner for going down to easy to win the winning spot-kick.

Here are some of the reactions from fans;

Leonardo Bonucci had given the home side the lead in the 36th minute with a header but the scoreline came to level when Christian Kouame scored four minutes later.

Genoa received their first red card when Francesco Cassata got his second yellow card for tugging Paulo Dybala and then six minutes later substitute goalkeeper Federico Marchetti was also shown red despite being on the bench.

Adrien Rabiot became the third player to be sent off in the match when, three minutes from time, he was shown a second yellow card for a sliding tackle to stop a counter-attack.

Nonetheless, the late penalty helped Maurizio Sarri’s men claim three more points and sent them a point ahead of Inter Milan to the top of the table.
