England Squad Announced As Chelsea's Tammy Abraham Receives First Competitive Call-Up

Chelsea stars Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori have been called up to the England squad for their upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers by Gareth Southgate.

Abraham and Tomori's teammate Mason Mount is also included while Tottenham's Dele Alli misses out.

Abraham, 22, has enjoyed a prolific start to the new Premier League term under Frank Lampard. He has already scored 8 goals in all competitions, including a strike in last night's Champions League victory over Lille.

The ex-Bristol City and Aston Villa forward had expressed a desire to play for Nigeria, but he's in line to represent England on the international scene.

Tomori, meanwhile, has starred for Chelsea at the back after rising to prominence in the Championship with Derby County last campaign. The 21-year-old defender receives his first England call-up.

Leicester City's James Maddison is another notable addition. He gets a spot in Southgate's squad despite missing his side's victory against Newcastle United last Sunday. He's looking for his first cap.

England travel to Czech Republic on Friday, October 11 before facing Bulgaria on Monday, October 14.
