Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham says it’s a dream to play alongside Callum Hudson-Odoi in the first team this season. Abraham has made an electric start to the Premier League season, grasping his opportunity with both hands after developing his game down in the Championship for the past few campaigns.
Hudson-Odoi broke into the team at the back end of last season before an Achilles injury cut short his campaign.
Now back to full fitness, and after signing a new deal at Stamford Bridge following a summer of interest from Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, Hudson-Odoi is expected to be pushing for regular starts in the weeks to come.
Abraham, who has also been linked with putting pen to paper on a new contract at the Bridge, says he loves playing with Hudson-Odoi after they came up through the ranks at the club together. “When I play with Callum, I just enjoy watching him,” he said.
“I just stand still sometimes. It’s nice to have him back. He’s still getting that match fitness back and he’s looking sharp. Give him a couple of games to settle in and he’ll be flying again.
“I don’t think it has hit us all really. It’s dream for us. We have all dreamed as kids about playing for the Chelsea first team, and we are making it happen. Not only that, we are also getting results. It is a bit like playing with your mates.”
Chelsea fans will be hoping to see the pair in action on Wednesday night when the Blues host Ajax in the Champions League.
The west London outfit are in third place in Group H, with three points from their first two games. A home defeat to Valencia was followed by a strong win on the road against Lille.
Ajax are currently sitting pretty at the top of the group after two wins from two before their trip to London.
