Imama Amapakabo’s side fell to a first-half goal in Omdurman on Thursday and will need to overturn the result in next week's return fixture in Asaba.

Nigeria's U-23 Eagles on Thursday evening lost 1-0 to hosts Sudan in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics football event qualifier at the Al Merriekh Stadium in Omdurman.
The winners over two legs will qualify for the CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
The Nigeria U-23 Eagles had a couple of chances to score in the first half but the duo of Taiwo Awoniyi and Stephen Odey were guilty of missing them.
Walaa Eldin Musa scored the only goal that separated both teams as Sudan held on to a crucial first-leg advantage. Nigeria started the game on the stronger foot but failed to convert their chances with Mainz forward Taiwo Awoniyi and Genk attacker Stephen Odey coming closest to firing them ahead.

Sudan defeated Nigeria 1-0 in the first leg of the 2019 Africa U23 Cup of Nations qualifiers at the Al-Merreikh Stadium.
