Tottenham Hotspur have given Harry Kane a £250 million price tag, in an effort to ward off any forthcoming interest in their striker.
Kane, who has scored 169 goals for Spurs in all competitions since making his debut, has recently talked openly about wanting to win silverware and that has clearly caused concern for Daniel Levy.
According to the Telegraph the club's chairman has put the £250 million price tag on Kane in a hope to ward off the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Real Madrid, after another failure in the cup.
After reaching the Champions League final last season things haven't started well for Mauricio Pochettino's side at all this season.
Spurs have only won twice in the league this season, against Aston Villa and Crystal Palace, and lost at home to Newcastle United and away to Leicester.
They have thrown away leads in the game against the Foxes, the 2-2 draw in the North London derby and in their opening Champions League games against Olympiakos, when leading 2-0.
On Tuesday they were knocked out of the third round of the Carabao Cup on penalties by League One Colchester United, which would have been one of their main opportunities to win silverware.
In the past Pochettino hasn't paid much attention to either domestic cup competitions but in August, speaking to PA News, Kane revealed he wanted to win silverware, saying, "The most important thing is to try and win a trophy. We spoke about it a lot, we know how difficult it is.
"But I think we've proved in the last five years that we have a good enough squad. We just need to get the job done out on the pitch.
"We'll do everything we can to win something and I think it would give everyone at the club a big boost. Year-by-year we have progressed, but we still haven't really got anything to show for it.
"I think we've earned the respect of teams and fans around Europe, but we haven't had that success of winning a trophy."
£250 million would make Kane easily the most expensive player ever, beating the price PSG paid for Neymar by over £50 million, and that could put potential suitors off.
There's been recent questions about the future of Pochettino whilst Christian Eriksen,Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen are all out of contract in the summer.
The last thing the club can afford right now is to lose Kane, although £250 million would certainly soften the blow.
