Highly-rated Nigerian winger Samuel Edozie has finally made his competitive debut for Manchester City, two months after joining the Etihad Stadium outfit from Millwall.

The 2003-born player was handed a start alongside Delap and Wright-Phillips in attack as The Citizens thrashed Liverpool 5-2 in an U18 Premier League fixture at the Academy Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Edozie came off for Bynoe-Gittens before the start of the second half and with the hosts trailing 2-1.

A stunning performance in the second half saw Manchester City triumph over the Reds, with Delap (2), Wright-Phillips and Bynoe-Gittens getting on the scoresheet.

Edozie was linked with a plethora of Premier League clubs including Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Everton and Wolves before Manchester City won the race for his signature.

Though he is eligible for Nigeria through his father, Rushhoursport.com understands that the English Football Association are keeping tabs on the winger with a view to a call-up to the Young Lions.

Edozie has been registered by Manchester City for the group stage of the UEFA Youth League.

Gavin Bazunu, Nathanael Ogbeta, Timi Sobowale, Felix Nmecha and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru are the other teenagers of Nigerian descent included in City's UEFA Youth League squad list.
