Don’t Judge New Super Eagles Players By Ukraine Friendly, Says Former Nigeria’s Goalkeeper

Ex international, Dosu Joseph says the result of the international friendly game between the Super Eagles and Ukraine in Dnipro Arena should not be used to judge some of the newly invited players.
Some of the new players Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr invited for the battle of Dnipro are Joseph Aribo (Glasgow Rangers, Scotland), Emil Maduka Okoye (Fortuna Dusseldorf, Germany), Joshua Maja (Girondins Bordeaux, France), and Emmanuel Dennis (Club Brugge, Belgium).
However, the Atlanta Olympic gold medalist told Rushhoursport.com that Nigerians should not expect a lot from the newly invited players regardless of the outcome of the game.
He stated that the game would help to boost their morale and create a perfect understanding amongst some of the established players.
“It has become a norm in our football that when new players are invited to the Super Eagles, we always expect them to deliver as soon as possible.
“I really don’t think that is very easy considering the fact that many of them may not really impress at the first instance. However, a few of them tend to win the heart of Nigerians by trying to impress, thereby putting themselves under immense pressure.
“These are things we have seen in the past in the Super Eagles and I think we should change our notion. All the same, I wouldn’t want Nigerians to judge some of the newly invited players such as Joseph Aribo, Emil Maduka Okoye, Joshua Maja, and Emmanuel Dennis by the Ukraine friendly.
