Wayne Rooney Sent Off For D.C United After Smashing Forearm In Opponent's Face

Wayne Rooney was sent off in the first half of D.C United's 2-1 loss to New York Red Bulls last night with the help of VAR.

England's all-time record goalscorer was involved in a tussle with Cristian Casseres from a corner and struck the Venezuelan in the face with his forearm.

The referee went to the VAR monitor to get the best possible angle of the incident and was in no doubt that it was a red card worthy offence for violent conduct, showing the skipper a straight red card in the 24th minute.
