Man City to wear 125th anniversary shirt in Community Shield clash with Liverpool

The Premier League champions will step out in a retro trim against the Reds at the showpiece curtain-raiser at Wembley this weekend

Manchester City will wear a special kit to commemorate their 125th anniversary when they take on Liverpool in the Community Shield on Sunday.

The Premier League champions will face last season's runners-up and Champions League victors at the showpiece curtain-raiser at Wembley, in what is a milestone year for the club.

Though City initially formed as St. Mark's (West Gorton) in 1880, they took their current name in 1894, and to celebrate the occasion, will step out onto the field in a retro shirt devoid of sponsors and including features voted for by their fans.
