Liverpool become first Premier League team ever to earn over £250m from TV revenue in a single season

Liverpool have been given even more cause for celebration after it emerged they will earn a major windfall from their Champions League success.

Jurgen Klopp's side completed an excellent campaign when they won their sixth European Cup on Saturday night. They also finished second in the Premier League following a memorable title race with Manchester City.

As a result of their exploits on the field, the Reds have earned significant financial rewards as they became the first English club to receive over £250million in TV revenue in a single season.

According to Twitter account @SwissRamble, the Reds have received £152.4m as a result of their Premier League TV package and £98.5m from the Champions League.

That gives Mohamed Salah and Co a combined total of £250.9m and leaves them comfortably top in the domestic TV revenue standings by just over £15m.

Tottenham's unexpected run to the final in Madrid saw them earn a lucrative TV deal but also finish second to Liverpool for the second time in three days.

Their domestic schedule paid out a cool £145.2m and Spurs will also receive a consolation prize for their 2-0 defeat in Spain to the tune of £89.9m. That gives them a total of £235.2m.

Four English clubs managed to earn above the £200m mark and Manchester City and United complete the wealthy quartet.

Pep Guardiola's Premier League champions pulled in £151m from domestic TV as well as £82.4m from the Champions League to finish on £233.3m

Another abject season was not enough to hurt United's coffers it seems. The Red Devils earned £142.5m domestically and £82.6m on the continent to give them a handsome total of £225.2m for the season.
