Sarri Speaks on David Luiz’s Future, Reveals What Loftus-Cheek Must Suffer Forever

Chelsea manager, Maurizio Sarri has revealed that Brazilian defender David Luiz, could be staying at the club.

Luiz has started talks with the club over a new contract.

The 32-year-old is out of contract this summer.

Sarri told a press conference ahead Chelsea’s game against Watford on Sunday that, “David is a very important player – also in the dressing room.

“People know my opinion. But then there is also the opinion of the player and the club.

“But I think we can solve this situation in the next couple of weeks. I am confident.

Sarri also said that young midfielder, Ruben Loftus-Cheek will have to carefully manage his back problems for the rest of his career.
The 23-year-old was totally dominant on Thursday night as the Blues grabbed a 1-1 Europa League semi-final first leg draw at Eintracht Frankfurt.

However, back problems have hampered the player’s career and kept him out for more than a month this season.

Sarri said the back pains are not going to go away.

Sarri added, “I don’t think Ruben will need surgery. We have to control him. He needs probably a particular way of training.

“I think that will be for a long period – probably forever. But I think we can avoid an operation.”
