NNLO Reacts as Nigerian Coach Dies

The Management of the Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO), on Tuesday, decried the sudden demise of Lobi Stars Head Coach, Solomon Ogbeide.

It will be recalled that Ogbeide died on Monday morning after he slumped and was rushed to a nearby hospital.

He was declared dead on arrival by a doctor on duty.

A director in NNLO Management Board, Ebere Amaraizu, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the news of Ogbeide’s demise came to the management as ‘a great shock.’

Amaraizu said that Ogbeide had been one of the coaches that had raised the standard of Nigerian football league in recent years.

‘‘It is quite unfortunate he left us at a time his experience and sound tactical knowledge of football matches are needed the most.

‘‘For some years now, he had been exceptional in his career of being a good football tactical expert,’’ he said.

According to him, we cannot question God but agree in the way He wants things to go.

‘‘We pray for the repose of his soul in paradise and for God to give his immediate family, Benue State people and government as well as the football community in Nigeria the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,’’ he said.

Ogbeide had been with Lobi Stars since 2016/2017 Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) season.

He led the team to the group stage of the CAF Champions League this year, after helping the team to win the NPFL title in 2018.
