Klopp Issues Strong Warning to Salah and Mane After 5-0 win Over Huddersfield

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, has said he will speak to Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, about toning down their efforts to win the Premier League Golden Boot.

Both players scored twice on Friday night, as the Reds thrashed relegated Huddersfield 5-0 at Anfield.

Salah took his tally for the season to 21 goals, while Mane is just one behind.

Both players looked like they wanted even more goals as the match became more and more open late on, but Klopp wants them to rein in their attacking instincts in future.

“It’s difficult. I spoke to them, I didn’t want them to chase back anymore or stuff like that.

“But for sure, in this moment, we are human beings – one has 21 now and the other 20 – so [you can’t] take one off in that moment.

“When you see then how Mo is running with each ball you think, “what the heck are you doing?” It’s good, but we need to talk about that obviously, that’s clear. ‘

“But today was a day where you have to leave them on the pitch and manage the game in a very offensive way, which they did obviously,” Klopp told Sky Sports.

He continued: “If we start thinking about who could score, when, what, then we have a massive problem.

“The boys did really well, I would say until the last five, six minutes, then it’s normal when Sadio had that beautiful header and Mo a shot a bit far.”
